The University of Georgia inducted 164 first-generation students into Alpha Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for first-generation college students, marking the largest class of inductees in UGA history.
The on-campus ceremony was hosted by the Office for Student Success and Achievement (OSSA) on April 6, 2026.
The program included remarks from OSSA leadership, a reading of the society’s history and guiding principles, and the official initiation pledge. Inductees received honor cords, pins and certificates in recognition of their academic achievement and leadership.
Tiffani Tallon, assistant director of Initiatives in OSSA, congratulated inductees on their accomplishment. “I know of the grit, resilience and fortitude of first-gen students, as I have witnessed it during my higher education career,” she said.
Members have access to exclusive programming, networking opportunities and mentorship designed to support students during their time at UGA.
With more than 4,600 first-generation students at UGA, this induction demonstrates UGA’s commitment to expanding opportunities for first-gen students. Each fall, the University hosts a First-Generation Celebration Week, with a mix of social and leadership development opportunities for students.
