UGA faculty and staff members can make a meaningful impact on student success by becoming an Academic Coach. Academic Coaches meet one-on-one with students to help them build skills, strategies, and confidence for thriving in college. One way to expand your reach as an Academic Coach is to sign up as an Affiliate Academic Coach.

What is Affiliate Academic Coaching?

Affiliate Academic Coaches are trained UGA staff and faculty across campus who volunteer their time to support student success through Academic Coaching.

OSSA offers Affiliate Academic Coaches full flexibility in working with students, including setting their own availability and preferences.

Interested in getting involved? The first step to serving as an Affiliate Academic Coach is completing Foundational Academic Coaching Training.

Support for Affiliate Coaches

Affiliate Coaches are given ample resources including a handbook, guide to SAGE, and resources to share with students.

Foundational Academic Coaching Training

Foundational Academic Coaching Training provides valuable knowledge, skills, and frameworks which are highly transferrable to academic advising, particularly in developing approaches to challenging conversations with students. It also presents an opportunity to build relationships with campus partners while increasing working knowledge of campus resources. Completing Foundational Academic Coaching Training is the first step in serving as an Affiliate Academic Coach, however, serving as an Affiliate Academic Coach is not required after completing the training.

Upcoming Training Dates

  • September 16-18, 2025
  • October 14-16, 2025
