Course Description

This course is restricted for student scholars within OSSA programs.

This course provides OSSA Scholars opportunities to practice skills regarding motivation, academic, and career exploration; develop academic and professional skills; and prepare for academic success at UGA and abroad. This course builds a sustainable community for students to achieve academic success while exploring the professional landscape abroad.

Course Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Articulate their educational goals and future academic and career goals.
  • Develop and sustain time management and project management skills.
  • Independently acquire and practice evidence-based learning strategies, increasing their skills as learners. (e.g., metacognitive learning strategies, active learning techniques, collaborative learning).
  • Demonstrate greater academic engagement within the behavioral, psychological, and cognitive domains.
  • Develop appropriate and effective formal and informal interpersonal communicative professional skills and etiquette within an academic setting and the professional landscape.
